Electronic Data Submission Via the Internet
![]()
For many years, MDC -- Oklahoma appraisers, with software capable of creating CAFE files, have been able to use "Step C- Comps Transfer Utility" in the Residential Appraisal Data module of the current online system to electronically upload their data. This data submission alternative continues to be available and involves creating the CAFE files from the appraisal software and then sending/ uploading those files while connected to the MDC online service.
However, few software applications really still include CAFE and those that have it only support creation of the files from the 1004-URAR form. Data from appraisals reported on the other types of forms still has to be submitted in the traditional manner. Currently, MDC can accept CAFE files from: The Residential Appraiser/Appraise-It, WCA/Real Easy, MCS-DOS Total 2000 and United Systems HighPerForm (with Appraisal Link add-on).
Since most software vendors have abandoned the CAFE format, and the newer standard format ANSI X-12 has yet to be universally adopted, MDC is pleased to announce that we can now accept appraisal data via the Internet in the form of e-mail messages, with appraisal files attached, in order to facilitate electronic submission of data into the MDC system. Appraisers can now transmit files to MDC from the following systems: ACI/PDSI(Polaroid), a la mode WinTOTAL 2000, Day One and MCS-Windows (in addition to those listed above supporting the CAFE standard).
A Place to Start
You must first identify the location and filenames your software uses to store the appraisal files before you can attach them to an e-mail message. Any number of files can be sent to MDC this way, but
you should send each file only once and each e-mail message should contain
files from only one individual appraiser. It is possible, and more convenient,
to collect several appraisal files (from a single appraiser) with a compression
utility such as WINZIP that stores any number of files in a single, compressed
file. Just the single compressed file could then be attached to the e-mail
message for transmission. When received it would be expanded back out to the
group of appraisal files for processing.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
| Determine which appraisal files you are going to send and their exact location on your system. | |
| Start an Internet e-mail message using your e-mail application. | |
| Address the message to: "datamail@marketdatacenter.net". | |
| For the subject of the message, write the appraiser's name. | |
| Attach the appraisal file(s), or compressed file containing several files, to the message. | |
| Send the e-mail message. |
